The XXVII Staff Association Council Meeting was carried out in Santa Cruz, Bolivia and our Local Organization in Bolivia did a very good job not only in the selection of the facilities but in the organization and support they provided. The meeting was carried out from 27 to 29 May 2008, and on Friday 30 we organized a workshop about conflict resolution system and how to access it; the workshop was facilitated by Dr Osvaldo Bastida, SA legal advisor and Mrs. Pilar Vidal, elected member of PAHO BOA.
The Council meeting was especially interesting because the topic of membership was the center of the discussion. The membership is the body that exercise the Staff Association sovereignty and with the new SA Constitution approval in April 2008, it was confirmed and strengthened that the association “are the members and nobody else”. The members are the center of attention for our actions and interventions and they are the ones persons who always must be present in all the SA interventions.
